Longines Spirit Zulu Time GMT
The Longines Spirit Zulu Time GMT (L3.812.4.63.6) is a GMT travel watch from Longines: a 42 mm stainless steel case, 13.9 mm thick and 49.4 mm lug to lug, with an automatic L844.4 movement and 100 m water resistance.
Going by its 49.4 mm lug to lug, it should sit within the flat top of a wrist of about 6.7 inches (17.0 cm) or larger.
Research found it at $3,550 list in the US (checked August 2026).
On paper it's one of the most impressive watches on my list, a COSC chronometer with a silicon hairspring, a long power reserve and a proper GMT. It's also pricier and busier than the regular Spirit, so the value isn't as strong.

What the research found
These are the research’s judgments, scored against Holden’s priorities, not his own words.
Strengths
- True flyer/traveler GMT with independent local hour — rare mechanical capability under $4k [3]
- Bracelet with micro-adjust and tool-free interchange system [2][4]
- Genuine 1925 Zulu-flag dual-time heritage story ([1] snippet)
Weaknesses
- 13.9 mm thick and 49.4 mm lug-to-lug at 42 mm — big for a non-diver [2][3]
- Bezel carries only a lumed triangle — no lumed numerals (commenter criticism, [2])
- $3,550 AD price sits well above the standard Spirit
- Visually denser dial than the plain Spirit
